Join this thriving central London private practice's private client team and become part of a business that is really flying.

Compared to other firms with a strong brand in the private wealth market, this practice strikes the perfect balance for a mid-level associate seeking the rare combination of both high quality work and a sensible working culture.

Switching to this firm will suit an ambitious associate from a smaller/boutique private client practice who wishes to move away from the niche model to benefit from the advantages gained by being part of a full-service firm.

Equally, this move could also suit someone wishing to leave a large international firm where they increasingly feel like “just a number” as their current firm seeks to compete on all fronts and cannot always cater for the aspirations of the private client team and its associates.

Whilst many firms, both larger and smaller in size, are suffering mixed fortunes in several different area of their business, this well-run and highly profitable firm continues to “punch above its weight”.

The partners have fostered a collegial, positive and entrepreneurial culture where everyone at all levels is pulling in the same direction and making a valuable contribution.

Albeit a single-office partnership in central London, the firm is part of a large international association of firms (non-exclusive), and a significant proportion of the firm's overall work has a foreign dimension. The private client department mirrors the overall firm's cross-border outlook, with a much of the team's workload involving overseas elements.

The firm has a particularly strong track record advising high net worth individuals and families, and successful entrepreneurs, with business interests and/or roots in Africa, Australia, Canada, China, Europe, India, Israel, the Middle East, Russia/CIS and the US.

Offering its clients comprehensive business and private law advice, the corporate and commercial teams coordinate their efforts together with the private client partners to capitalise on cross-selling opportunities. Having added considerable strength in depth over the past decade, the firm can be relied upon to handle a consistent flow of big ticket work, and its breadth of expertise extends to all manner of commercial and private legal matters, as a true one-stop-shop.

The private client practice itself is very well resourced, with established and ambitious partners, experienced and more junior associates, and important support team members that enable the unit to function very effectively. As the practice continues to grow, however, a further experienced associate is sought to play a key role in the department's ongoing success.

Typical clients of the private wealth practice include domiciled and non-domiciled HNW/UHNW individuals; entrepreneurs and family businesses; international trust companies; fund managers; family offices; trustees of charitable or family trusts.
The firm advises on significant amounts of corporate and private client trusts work involving all the main offshore jurisdictions, and as such has established valuable relationships with a great many professional advisors and financial entities offshore.

As a member of the team, it is expected that your day-to-day workload would involve, amongst other things:
* tax planning and wealth preservation advice for high net worths and ultra high net worths, with an understanding of offshore tax structures;
* capital gains, income and inheritance tax;
* advising non-residents and non-domiciles on tax and trust matters; and
* wills, probate and estate administration.

Candidates for this role are expected to have at least 3 years of private client experience, including demonstrable knowledge in the above areas. Applicants will have spent the majority of their career to date with a rated practice known for its expertise in HNW private client legal work. Candidates who whose experience beyond UK resident and domiciled private client work is somewhat limited are unlikely to be suited to this opportunity.

If you are keen to join a progressive and growing firm with a transparent path to partnership and cordial office culture, please get in touch.
