GunnerCooke launches enterprising GunnerBloom

Manchester law practice GunnerCooke has created a separate ‘nursery’ firm for young lawyers to learn the business. GunnerBloom will be staffed by junior lawyers who will be responsible for running the business and generating leads.

Based in the Rise Escalator in Manchester, the city’s hub for entrepreneurs, the ‘nursery’ will allow lawyers to progress quickly by learning on the job, while being mentored and trained by top legal minds. In order to ensure the lawyers develop wide commercial experience, they will not specialise for their first three years of training.

Each junior lawyer becomes a member of the GunnerBloom foundation, where they can get involved in project management and corporate finance. They also develop soft skills such as leadership, client service and business development.

Anna Beaumont, chief executive of GunnerCooke, said ‘We are very excited about the prospect of creating the next generation of lawyers through tailored training and education, whilst helping them to understand the implications of their advice in a commercial context.’
